Virginia Comprehensive Data Privacy Signed Into Law on March 2, 2021:
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D) signed the Consumer Data Protection Act on Tuesday, making Virginia the second state in the U.S. to pass a comprehensive data privacy law.
Passed by both houses February 5, 2021 and takes affect January 1, 2023.

- covers all “persons” that conduct business in Virginia or produce products or services that are targeted to Virginia residents and process personal data of 1) at least 100,000 Virginia residents or 2) derive over half of its gross revenue from the sale of personal data of at least 25,000 Virginia residents
