New Jersey’s Assembly Science, Innovation and Technology Committee held a hearing to discuss AB 3255 (see below), as well as A5448 and A3283, on March 15.

Introduced by Assemblyman John Burzichelli on Feb. 25, 2020, AB 3255 would set forth the following provisions:
- require companies to obtain consent from New Jersey consumers before they could collect and sell personal data to third parties
- require organizations to provide information on how it uses data in plain language
- would allow consumers to ask companies to provide them with their own personal data sold to third parties
- would allow consumers to delete their personal information
